Gloves for working in cold weather?

I thought this would appropriate to put in the survival section.

Well January came and brought an arctic cold spell with it. I work outside on the weekends and need a good pair of working gloves that I can wear while working in near zero degree weather.

I saw these Gorgonz gloves that allow you to exhale your warm breath into the gloves and heat your fingers. I thought it was pretty cool:

Having some dexterity in the fingers is a must. Im open to all suggestions :36_1_63:

I like my gloves dry so I doubt I'd buy a pair because of that function. Blowing warm moist breath into my golves in winter seems like a hopeless cause.
But if they feel like they've got some insulative properties and good dexterity they'd be good anyhow.

I've got a bunch of Nomex flight gloves I wear through the winter. Often times doubled up with a smaller pair underneath. I'll also use them or a pair of wool liners inside of some Mechanix gloves.

One of the guys I help maintain a rural shooting range with had a pair of Craftsman ones that he wears in the winter. He swore by them.

I'm cheap. I like the cotton Jersey gloves for a buck. Of course they're useless if wet but I keep a bunch of them around in places I go.

I had a pair very similar to that a few years ago and they were honestly a gimmick. It didn't heat your fingers, just the small area next to the "blow hole." The moisture from your breath also accumulates over time making them heavier and can also freeze if it's really cold or if left sitting around while not in use.

I currenly have a pair of Columbia Omni-Tech waterproof/breathable gloves that I like a lot. Probably the warmest gloves I've ever had, well worth the 35 FRNs or so.

For dexterious working

I use a set of Carhart gloves on the outside the flexible ones with leather and spandex .....then i line them with a jersy liner.......

I keep a second set of jersy liners in my inner pockets where it is warm and swap them out when fingers start to get cold

I have cold weather mittens for non dexterious work

This lil cold spell brings on a whole new meaning to "global warming " huh !! I just bet GORE is somewhere south in the warm
